Richly roasted to bring
a smooth espresso creaminess to your dark beers with a touch of rye spiciness.
Beautiful in a porter or oatmeal stout where the coffee spice character is
particularly well matched with the roast malts. Adds a further level of
complexity to Vienna in a Dunkel or even something a little uncommon to a mild
or English brown.
Use 1 – 5% to enhance
aroma and flavour characters without imparting bitterness or astringency.
Character: Richly
roasted, smooth espresso. Flavours are quite reminiscent of Roasted Barley, in
some ways even stronger but with less of a harsh edge and much lower
colouration. Could be handy for imparting these roasty flavours in a lighter
beer without instantly turning it black.

We do charge a $0.20/kg fee if you need your malt crushed, which is to cover the larger bags, extra time and maintenance required for the crushing service. This is a specialty malt and can be crushed, steeped in water and added to
an extract brew, or included with base malts in a mash to provide a spicy,
roasty coffee flavour and aroma.
