CO2 Hop Extract
These CO2 Extracts use supercritical carbon dioxide extraction from certain NZ & US hop varieties. All the essential hop constituents (alpha acids, beta acids, and hop oils) are captured and preserved, while plant matter and most undesirable components (tannins, polyphenols, etc.) are left behind. The end result is a syrupy, honey-like waxy concentrate that is very easy to measure and add to the boil.
CO2 Extracts are THE easiest way of storing, measuring and delivering boil hop additions. They are also the most stable, having a shelf life of several years with minimal degradation of alpha acids (if stored correctly), meaning no (guessed) adjustments needed to account for hop age in bitterness calculations. If added late in the boil, they will deliver the use flavours and aromas of their hop variety. They are easily dispensed by warming to 50°C (for example by running the capped syringe under the hot tap) and squeezing out the precisely measured amount needed.
Stocked varieties variety every so often. They're usually available in 5 mL, 20 mL and 50 mL capped syringes. We may also have access to extracts of certain
other US hop varieties, so feel free to enquire.
